Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to school! We are going to have a
great year. We would like our school population to stay as healthy as possible,
so please if your student is not feeling well keep them home. If you have
questions or concerns please contact me.
The Health Authorization and Health Information
forms are very important, as it gives the school nurse the ability to provide
care for your child when they are sick or injured, This must be completed EVERY
YEAR in its entirety. This is available in Alma. If your child has a physical
exam or updated immunizations please send a copy of the results to the school
nurse. This is helpful to keep health records up to date.
We are following recommendations from the Centers
for Disease Control (CDC) and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human
Services (NHHHS). Please keep your student home when they are experiencing
symptoms of illness. This is helpful to prevent the spread of illness in
school. Students should remain home until 24 hours fever free, since last vomit
or diarrhea and after starting antibiotics. The COVID guidelines link is on
this page. We are currently following the CDC guidance with regards to COVID
management.
Schools are able to order COVID test kits through
a federal program. Let me know if you need some free test kits and I will send
them home with your student.
Parents must provide the school nurse with a
written doctor’s order for prescription medications that will be given or
utilized at school. This includes scheduled or as needed medications - examples
are antibiotics, ADHD medications, inhalers and EpiPens. This requirement is a
state law for all students. The form link is at the bottom of this page. In
addition, students with inhalers and EpiPens should have an Action Plan that is
created by the parent and the nurse. There will need to be a plan between the
parents, teacher and school nurse for students that will need to carry their inhaler
or EpiPen.
Hydration is very important for all of us to
remain healthy. Please consider having your student have their own reusable
water bottle at school every day. The water bottle should come to school clean
and can be refilled as needed during the day at the refilling stations in
school.
The soft plastic recycling program was new last
year. We collected over 1000 pounds of soft plastic and earned a bench made out
of recycled plastics. Attached are handouts about the program. We will
participate in the program again this year. We are accepting plastic shopping
bags, bread bags, produce bags, newspaper bags, plastic amazon mailer or
equivalent, etc. We are partnering with Hannaford in New London to accept our
plastics. If you see Hannaford manager Peter Monigle, please thank him for
partnering with us.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
